Our wheelchair lifts travel at 0.15 metres/second. Due to a restriction imposed on all machinery directive lifts for compliance purposes, wheelchair platform lifts can’t travel any faster than this.
No, wheelchair lifts don’t always require a pit – it depends on the type and size of the lift being installed. In some scenarios, we can floor-mount our lifts and ramp up, eliminating the need to excavate the pit and reducing the building work required for the lift installation. If your wheelchair lift does need a pit, the pit depth depends on the exact piece of equipment that we install but typically starts at around 50mm and runs up to around 120mm.
